Monument To The Unborn War Hero - over 43 thousand views

An incredible 43,991 views as of today on my Fine Art America Website!
This painting (acrylic on canvas, 34" x 40", 1975), done over 34 years ago, in a private collection in Alberta, Canada, had more views than any of my other works combined!
--------------------------------
One painting that seems to summarize Rapp’s attitude is his
A large painting which includes scenes of brutality; tyranny; the soldier in various historical periods; images of Hitler; human sculls; alarming pictures of wolves; warplanes overhead and a very bold nude female figure giving birth to what appears to be a crucified figure of man. It is his visual summary of the consequences of war.
Rapp is an accomplished artist, and like so many European artists who have settled in Canada, he has a strong command of modern surrealist imagery.
Excerpt from the critique by J. Brooks Joyner, Editor Visual Arts, The Albertan, Saturday, May 29th, 1976

Update - Now featured on my website: MONUMENT TO THE UNBORN WAR HERO by OTTO RAPP

'THE HUMAN SOUL'
Where eccentricity meets controversy

'The Human Soul' is a joint exhibition by the Chinese painter Meng Yan and the English photographer Dominic Rouse.

It runs from September 2nd-30th at the Gossip Gallery located in Silom Galleria on Silom Road in Bangkok.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Gossip Gallery @ Silom Galleria is hosting ‘The Human Soul’, an exhibition of contemporary art by two of the most notable and controversial artists of the 21st Century: Meng Yan and Dominic Rouse. One is an eccentric painter from Shanghai, the other a controversial photographer from England. Although these two artists come from very different backgrounds and employ different techniques to create their masterpieces, they both possess the need to illustrate ‘The Human Soul’."

IMAGINE THE IMAGINATION - New Visions of Surrealism

IMAGINE THE IMAGINATION - New Visions of Surrealism

The book aims to show the variety of contemporary surreal art including 100 works in different media: traditional painting and drawing, digital painting, fractals, photomanipulation, photography, mixed media, sculpture, traditional prints, and more.
The collection will be classified in 3 groups: Visions, Dreams and Nightmares, all this mental manifestation has been the source of inspiration for this revolutionary movement since the 1920s.
The mind gates are open to explore the deepest of the subconscious in this visual dialogue with the "other", in the omnipotence of dream, in the disinterested play of thought.

The book will be published by
nEgoist

Update: Book Launch is set for February 10th, 2010, check updated blog here.
